Tradition Continues : Christmas Eve With Oedipus on RadioBDC returns
Oedipus, legendary Boston radio programmer and DJ is returning to Radio BDC for his 36th annual Christmas Eve broadcast. It's a tradition he he started back when he was working as WBCN 104.1's part-time nigh-time jock in 1978. When he moved into WBCN's program director chair in 1981, he decided that the only person who should work on Christmas Eve should be the boss. And so for over 35 years, Oedipus has never missed a live Christmas Eve show(WBCN 104.1 1978 to 2008, WFNX 101.7 from 2009 to 2011 and RadioBDC from 2012-present).

Famed Boston radio personality returns for a second year to host RadioBDC's Christmas Eve show
BOSTON (December 23, 2013) - RadioBDC announced today that legendary Boston radio DJ and programmer Oedipus will host RadioBDC's Christmas Eve show, commercial-free, from 6 p.m. to midnight.
This marks the second year that Oedipus hosts the RadioBDC Christmas Eve program but the tradition goes back to 1978, when he first hosted a Christmas Eve program as a nighttime personality for WBCN.
"A Boston tradition continues once again at RadioBDC," said Paul Driscoll, RadioBDC Director of Operations and Program Development. "The holiday season would not be complete without Oedipus curating the soundtrack to Christmas Eve."
Listeners will be treated to a carefully cultivated and eclectic mix of holiday music and other entertainment that goes beyond the standard seasonal fare.
"I started hosting the Christmas broadcast because I was low man on the totem pole and nobody else wanted to work on Christmas Eve," said Oedipus. "I realized that I was the soundtrack for the holiday, but the problem was that most Christmas songs were overplayed, so my research began and my collection began to grow."
Oedipus uses his own collection of about 100 unique Christmas CDs, but the show is not all about music. Previous highlights include Bob Dylan reciting T'was the Night Before Christmas, and Bono reading a Christmas poem.
The show will live stream on December 24 from 6 p.m. to midnight, commercial-free, at www.Boston.com/radio.
And as we head into the New Year, listeners can tune into RadioBDC's Top 100 Songs of 2013 - selected by the RadioBDC team - with a countdown starting December 30 and continuing through January 1, 2014 at www.Boston.com/radio.
