WFNX gets the nod from industry watchers
Boston's alternative rock station WFNX 101.7 has been nominated for 2011 Radio Station of the Year by trade publication AllAccess which is holding its 2nd annual WorldWide Radio Summit on April 27-28 in Hollywood, CA.
In a press release, WFNX's program director Paul Driscoll said that "it is an honor to be nominated along side of some of the most iconic brands in radio" in regards to the recent nomination. WFNX is gong up against a pair of LA's Top 40 signals KAMP/Amp 97.1 and KIIS/Kiss 102.7, NYC's Top40 giant WHTZ/Z100 and country station WYCD 99.5 in Detroit. All winners in 12 radio categories will be announced at this year’s Worldwide Radio Summit luncheon on April 28th.
Another Boston radio of note - WBMX/Mix 104.1's music director Mike Mullaney has been nominated in the Station Music Director category.
Voting in WorldSummit's 12 radio categories is currently open to the public until March 18 but on-line registration is necessary for AllAccess website. More information is here.

Remembering Dave Maynard : The family of of late Dave Maynard is inviting the public to celebrate the life of the longtime WBZ 1030 and WBZ TV4 personality this coming Wednesday(2/29) at Saint Cecilia’s Parish in Back Bay. Maynard passed from a long battle with Parkinson's Disease on Feb.9th.(BRW 2/9).
Radio grapefruit : This spring training season, Red Sox will be on the radio for 15 of their 33 grapefruit league games. Eleven of those broadcasts will be carried on flagship WEEI 93.7/850 with four games airing on WRKO 680 due to conflicts with the Celtics. Full spring training broadcast schedule is here.
