WTKK to air NECN content in the early morning drive

New England Cable News and WTKK 96.9 have reached an agreement that involves simulcasting regional news network's programming on the radio station from 4:30am to 6am every weekday starting next Monday(4/18).

The agreement helps Newton-based, Comcast-owned NECN build its reach beyond TV through while providing additional news content for WTKK which will carry NECN's "First Thing in the Morning" and "NECN Morning" leading into the 6am start of WTKK's "Jim and Margery Show," featuring Jim Braude and Margery Eagan. NECN's morning news is anchored by Kristy Lee and Erick Weber, and features Meteorologist Danielle Niles.

In other WTKK news, the station has made a change in its overnight programming - replacing nationally syndicated veteran Phil Hendrie with a brand news syndicated show hosted by David Stein, formerly with Sporting News Radio(2006-2011).  Stein's show will air from 1am to 4:30am.

Late night worker.
Phil Hendrie was hilarious. David Stein is like a sleeping pill. Please advise when Phil is back in Boston. WTKK moves lately have been puzzling.

What an awful decision to replace Phil Hendrie with a show that reminds me of the Stuart Smalley skits from Saturday Night Live.

Goodbye WTTK...it's becoming clear that format switch is inevitable. Getting rid of McPhee,Severin,Imus,Andleman and Hendrie in the span of 5 months strikes me as much more than a revamped image. They'll be a "new" station by Fall.

Why the hell did you take phil hendrie off wtkk and put this boob david stein on in his place. what a mistake. bring back phil.

yaaaaaaawn...WTKK should be held legally responsible for anyone who falls asleep behind the wheel...BRING PHIL HENDRIE BACK!

I sent WTKK my comments regarding David Stein. By now, I hope they've realized their error in replacing Phil Hendrie. I listened the first night to see what he's about and promptly fell asleep. Maybe those Air Traffic Controllers were listening to him when they fell asleep at work...!! He's constantly giving the phone number but only takes 2 calls an hour from his 'regulars'. It's as though he doesn't want his usual callers and is trying to get new calls. He has resorted to playing tapes of older calls. He's really in love with the sound of his voice. His 'Bamma Mamma Jamma' thing doesn't work here in the hub of education. In a word....BORING...!! It's obvious that TKK can't sell the show since they air mostly Public Service Announcements. Sorry, TKK....it's time for me to spin the dial.

I am so disspointed in this radio station replacing Phil Hendrie with this guy. Boring is not the word for it. I have tried to listen but can't stomach it anymore. Thanks to my smart phone I can tune into any station via the net who is playing Phil and listen to the better programming option. WTKK is losing me with their changes lately. What a shame. Can someone email me from WTKK when Phil comes back on at night please!!!!!

I have listened to phil hendrie in this area since 2001. To take him off the air, and to replace him with this, is terrible. Please do us all a favor and put him back on ASAP! Then listen for a while and see if somehow, someway you manage to figure it out.
