WODS shakes up its morning show
WODS 103.3FM has dropped one member of its morning show today. Chris Zito, who had been paired with Karen Blake as morning co-host, is no longer with the station, as he confirmed via his Twitter account earlier tonight.
Blake will continue solo as morning host at CBS Radio-owned oldies station. She orginally joined WODS in October 2005 as an afternoon DJ but when Boston radio's icon Dale Dorman retired in September 2008 she moved to mornings. Zito, a longtime Boston area radio personality and stand-up comic, joined her as co-host at WODS in November 2008(BRW 11/11/08) after he spent five years in the morning drive at Worcester's WXLO 104.5FM.
BRW Notebook :
WBZ picks up AP awards : WBZ AM 1030 earned seven awards in the annual Massachusetts/Rhode Island Associated Press radio and TV competition which will be presented next month.
Carr is out of action : WRKO AM 680's afternoon driver Howie Carr had a rough stretch recently with a total hip replacement surgery last summer which followed smashing his car into a telphone pole in late September. This past weekend, Carr ended up at MGH after passing out at a Wellesley restaurant. He's been off the air for the past two days as the President of Howie Nation, Col. David Hunt filled in.
