New talk station's domain name serves clues to Rush's new dial position

As noted here first, programming changes are coming to WKOX AM 1200 on April 1st. The station will adopt new call letters - WXKS AM - and change its format from Spanish-language station to a conservative news talk format. But that's not the only thing that may be moving to the right of Boston's AM dial.

A couple days ago, AM 1200's owner Clear Channel Communications, the company that produces and distributes Rush Limbaugh Show, has registered a website - http://www.rushradio1200.com/. This move likely serves as indication that after 15 1/2 years Rush Limbaugh will soon be leaving WRKO AM 680 for the new spot on the Boston dial - AM 1200. In addition. the new talk station is expected run The Glenn Beck Show from 9 am to noon and Sean Hannity from 3pm to 6pm.

With RushRadio1200 branding, the new station will be identified with Limbaugh and his new place on the dial. Clear Channel has implementd similar RushRadio formats in its other markets around the counry including New Orleans, Raleigh and Greensboro, NC.

Looks that way unless it's for their San Antonio news/talker WOAI?

Not only is this going to be the 5th or 6th nail in the coffin for WRKO, it is going to take away a good part of Howie's lead in and material, no more "I heard Rush say today...." on 680 if this goes through.

Let's see when the billboards go up for this, and what is on them.

Ne's been on WRKO longer than 15 years, it's at least 20. I remember listening to him on WRKO in the summer of 1990.

The citizens in Oak Hill are going to have a conniption fit when Rush starts talking from their radiators and telephones. Imagine Rush Radio broadcasting from Newton!

Maybe they can tape-delay Peter Blute's WCRN radio show...or better yet, put Peter Blute in the morning, move Finneran to noon-3 so he and Carr can see more of him.

I thought Rush moved to RKO in 1994. He had been on WHDH along with Howie Carr following. In the fall of 94, whomever owned RKO at the time bought the intell. property of WEEI and moved them to 850 from 590. At that point Howie and Rush went to 680.

I made a youtube video of Howie interviewing the "Chappaquiddick diver" from Aug of 94 (sound via Howie's page at RKO) and it clearly says he was on HDH 850 at the time. This was a month before the Rush/Howie move.

Let's hope the poorly educated, drug addicted, philandering racist Limbaugh can lose some weight while moving to his new station.

How's Air America doing, lynn? Bankrupt? You mean it didn't reach the 600 stations Jon Sinton predicted they'd have five years ago? (Boston Globe, 3/31/05)

Poorly educated: Talk radio superstar who earns many millions. But hey, money's evil. Who is John Galt?

Philandering: He's no John Edwards...

Racist: His producer is a black man.

Lose some weight: He did.

**Let's hope the poorly educated, drug addicted, philandering racist Limbaugh can lose some weight while moving to his new station.**

Let's hope we can make some progress in this state, now that the lying, cheating, sleazy, womanizing, drunkard Ted Kennedy is gone.

We already made progress with Scott Brown (R).

Maybe Rush can do a relaunch!

I said nothing about Air America. This is a RADIO blog, so I simply stated the facts that RADIO personality Rush Limbaugh is a thrice married, philandering, self admitted drug addict, Viagra importing, college degreeless racist. All facts.

No, you didn't attack Rush because he is a RADIO personality. You attacked him because of his politics.

So, you diss Limbaugh, who is a radio entertainer, )and a sucessful on at that!) and you cling to the morals of Ted Kennedy, the lying, cheating, sleazy, womanizing, drunkard Ted Kennedy.

So, if you want to comment on Rush's position in radio...then fine.

But if you choose to attack him because of his politics, then we have a right to examine those that you hold up and emulate!

Why can't we all get along, and just talk about radio here?

So Hispanic listeners lose their voice in Boston for a conservative racist like Rush.

Some partisan-type had to come in and stink up the place with politics.

Cool blog you got here. It would be great to read more about this topic. The only thing it would also be great to see on this blog is a few pics of some devices.

And so it begins: Howie Carr re-runs are taking the place of Coast to Coast on WRKO. No doubt this has to do with the fact that Clear Channel/Premiere wants CTC to be on AM 1200 when it debuts. (CTC is also gone in NY and LA due to Citadel launching the Doug McIntyre show)

Glenn Beck best of on Sat nights also gone from RKO lineup acc to their site. Rusty Humphries instead. Another Premiere defection to 1200

revised: not gone in LA, sorry (CTC)_

Anyone heard about Imus being taken away from WTKK within the next few weeks?

He too could end up on 1200.
